The idea for Mali Latino was born on tour in 2004 and is the brainchild of master kora player Madou Sidiki Diabate (brother of Toumani Diabate) and myself. I created a documentary of my trip to Mali and the subsequent visit of the Malian musicians to Suffolk in the UK to write and perform the music. My salsa orchestra perform a track from the album Inglaterra live at the Sands Venue in Gainsborough - this song features Mary Pearce on vocals. Mary has moved on to great things and now sings for Beverley Knight, Carleen
Anderson and a whole host of artists.

I have been fortunate to work for the British Council and have visited over 20 countries to work for them. I was asked to do a short interview to celebrate their 75th birthday and ended up
playing the piano score for the film. Other contributors were Neil Kinnock (politican) and George Alagiah (broadcaster)
